ERASMUS TEACHER TRAINING: DISCOVERING CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY

30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

Throughout this program, attendees will be introduced to the latest advancements in educational technology, gaining insights on how to elevate their teaching methods. Participants will look into the utilisation of digital technology within and beyond the classroom, explore blended learning strategies, and investigate the integration of artificial intelligence for enhanced lessons.

Designed for educators across all disciplines, this course offers the opportunity to enhance English language skills while exploring diverse and engaging topics. Whether the aim is to select optimal online resources, craft digital teaching materials, or master the use of learning management systems, the course provides guidance on effectively implementing the most recent technological innovations in education.

Eligibility

This course is available to teachers of any subject with a minimum language proficiency of B1 (according to the CEFR).

Schedule

Classes are held at one of the following times:

  • 9.00 to 12.15
  • then 13.00 to 14.30

Note: EEC-ITIS operates an extended hours policy during weeks containing a public holiday. In these instances, morning lessons are extended by 45 minutes each day, and afternoon classes are extended by 25 minutes.

Assessment

Students are assessed prior to commencement of their studies to ensure that they are placed into the correct level. Additionally, we administer progress tests and end of course tests, and provide a certificate of attendance/completion once a student has completed their studies.

ERASMUS TEACHER TRAINING: CLIL FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

This course is designed to equip educators with essential skills and methodologies for effective integration of language and subject matter in their classrooms. Each day, participants focus on practical strategies to seamlessly blend language instruction with the content of their specific subject areas. The course begins by establishing a theoretical foundation, delving into the principles of CLIL and its impact on student learning. Subsequent sessions provide hands-on activities, lesson planning exercises, and collaborative discussions that empower teachers to design and implement CLIL-based lessons. Over the five days, the CLIL teacher training course emphasizes a gradual and scaffolded approach to integration, ensuring that educators are well-equipped to adapt these techniques to their unique teaching contexts.

This course is available to primary school teachers with a minimum language proficiency of A2 (according to the CEFR).

30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

This course combines a theoretical overview of CLIL principles with hands-on activities and collaborative discussions, focusing on practical strategies for effective implementation. Throughout the training, teachers explore diverse instructional materials, assessment techniques, and language scaffolding tools to elevate both language proficiency and content comprehension in their classrooms. In their final collaborative project, teachers create a tailored CLIL lesson plan for their specific subject area, ensuring they are well-prepared to apply these techniques in their unique teaching contexts. By the end of the training, secondary school educators are equipped to enhance their students’ learning experiences by integrating language skills with subject content effectively.

ERASMUS TEACHER TRAINING: AN EXPLORATION OF MALTESE CULTURE

30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week

Combining English language instruction with an exciting cultural experience, this course offers teachers the opportunity to improve their English skills while exploring the history, sites, and sounds of Malta. In the morning, teachers will join our general English classes where they can practise their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with fellow students from all over the world. Classes are conducted by our expert teachers, experienced in providing engaging and interesting lessons tailored to the unique needs of their students.

In the afternoon, activities will be split between classroom activities and field trips. In class, students will focus on discussions, presentations, and other speaking activities that explore various aspects of Maltese culture. On excursions, students will visit museums, take tours, and see firsthand the beautiful island of Malta.
